About us
Leaving behind engineering and finance careers, we (Dave
and Patti Hegland) turned our full attention to creating
contemporary art glass. In 2009, we opened our own
private studio on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.
We are equally captivated by the creativity of the
design process, the technical challenge of construction,
and the precision of coldworking. Our open designs
reflect the rural horizons and lively waterways that
surround us, resulting in works that flow off the edge
into the world beyond. Geometric linear design and
construction, strikingly visible inclusions, and a
highly finished look characterize our work.
We have attended workshops at glass studios in New York,
Washington DC, Oregon and North Carolina and studied
with internationally recognized artists in the field of
kiln-formed glass. In particular, we acknowledge the
training and support of Judith Conway, Martin Kremer and
Kevin O’Toole.
Hegland Glass Studio is open by
appointment only.
If you would like to visit the studio, please contact us
